Next Beach Clean - Saturday 4th May 9 am

    Saturday 4th May 9 am
First Point Beach, meet at Princes Pier

    Message from 3207 Beachpatrol

    Hello again

This week is the very merry merry month of May already!   But instead of Strolling through the Park one Day we'll be 'Patrolling 'cross the Sand this Day'.  The first weekend in May is this coming weekend so our next Beach clean is this coming Saturday the 4th.   We have a little surprise for us too at this clean up.   Some of you may know Neil Blake of the Eco Centre.  Neil is making a video/documentary in which he is going to trawl parts of the Port Phillip Bay to document how much plastic is in the water and compare it to the results Captain Charles Moore measures in the North Pacific Gyre.  Hopefully a lot less but we don't know as yet.   As part of the video they will be shooting some footage of people taking action to clean up the beaches and Bay too.   They want to come and film 3207 hard at work next Saturday cleaning up the beach.  Being the movie industry ,  it might get delayed but at this stage this is the plan.  So get your hair done, chins shaved, blue 3207 shirts crisply ironed and smiles on.

They would love to get some footage of young children working too as they are the next generation to take on the responsibility of keeping our environment clean and other children watching this video will relate better to what they see these children doing.    So any one with young children or grandchildren are especially invited.

Where:   At First Point Beach - please assemble on Station Princes Pier. See you there in your bright blue t's! Coffee at Spuntino afterwards.

    When:  9am

    Thanks

    Ross

CoPP Council Planning meeting 1-7 Waterfront Place Tuesday 16 April 6 pm

    1-7 Waterfront Place
    CoPP Council Planning
    6 pm Tuesday 16 April
    Re Submission from owner

    Dear BCNA members,

As indicated in the BCNA update email of 7 March, time has come for discussion of the planning submission of last November by Waterfront Place Pty Ltd, the owner of 1-7 Waterfront Place. This is the request to:
    •  remove or vary the covenants on the site and
    •  allow the construction of three buildings up to 19 storeys.
Many residents sent in objections to CoPP at the time and you may have already received a letter in the last few days outlining how you can speak to that objection at the Council’s Statutory Planning Committee meeting at St Kilda Town Hall at 6:00 pm next Tuesday 16 April.

The BCNA Committee encourages you to attend and register to speak. The more that your views are presented to Councillors the better will be their understanding of the key issues that are important to you.

On the Council website on Friday morning, 12th April, we will see what the officers are recommending to the Council – http://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au/2013-council-meeting-agendas.htmis the link where you will need to look for the 16 April Planning meeting agenda and the two topics on 1-7 Waterfront Place.

    See you next Tuesday.

    Trevor Nink
    Secretary BCNA

p.s. this hearing is in response to the developer requests and is separate to the UDF and Design Guidelines (of 10 storeys) that were adopted for public review by the Councillors
